Celebrating Authenticity at Every Age Through Photography
I’m Kia Bondurant, and I’m so happy to be over 50—finally! When I was in my 30s, I wrote a seven-word bio for myself: Ready to be an eccentric old woman. I’ve been waiting my whole life to get to the point where it’s okay to be yourself and march to the beat of your own drum.
I’ve always loved being creative and different, but I used to feel like I needed permission from the world to make that okay. The funny thing is, as we age, we often stop giving ourselves permission to be exactly who we want to be. My mission now is to help people—especially women—celebrate who they are at every age. Whether it’s a high school senior at 17 or an Elite Woman at 70, everyone deserves to feel beautiful and confident in their skin.
30 Years of Kansas City Portrait Photography
As a professional portrait photographer for 30 years, I’ve truly loved every part of the process. The technical, creative, business, and relational challenges have each helped me grow. I’ve had the honor of mentoring team members, speaking nationally to fellow photographers, and building cherished relationships with clients who’ve become lifelong friends.
But at the core of everything I do is my family. I’m most proud of the life we’ve built together—my husband, a pastor, and I have been married for 30 years this summer, and we’ve raised four amazing grown kids. Some of my favorite memories include building homes for the homeless in Mexico, sending our kids on mission trips as teenagers, and opening our home to their friends in times of need.
My advice to women over 40? You are beautiful—wrinkles and all! Embrace what life has taught you and use it to make a difference. You are enough. You are powerful. You are loved.
