Kansas City Photography Feature: Advocacy, Healing, and Inclusion

I’m Kari D’Amato, and I’m a passionate advocate for trans rights and inclusion. I believe deeply in standing up for the dignity and worth of every individual. One of my proudest achievements is earning my counseling degree at 54—a milestone that represents my belief in lifelong learning, growth, and the power of starting something new at any age.

My professional journey has taught me that it’s never too late to discover a new passion or make a meaningful impact. As a counselor, I support adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, life transitions, panic disorders, and struggles with self-esteem, self-harm, and identity. My mission is to help people feel seen, supported, and empowered to heal and grow.

I nurture myself with guilt-free downtime—something I used to see as a luxury, but now recognize as essential.

Capturing Healing and Strength with Kansas City Portrait Photography

My message to other women over 40 is simple but powerful: Love yourself now, warts and all. One day you’ll look back and wonder why you didn’t appreciate the woman you were. You are worthy—exactly as you are.

I loved my portrait session because it reminded me of that truth. Seeing the final images made me feel beautiful again. It was a moment of reclaiming and celebrating who I am, inside and out.
